European Open 2022: The results from the EO Finals or just German Open

The European Open 2022 in Belgium are over. Or rather the German Open. As in the heats, one nation dominated on the final day in Belgium. Namely Germany

Silvan Zumthurm was lucky in misfortune. Misfortune because his second dog Penny got injured during the tournament and consequently his team missed the team final. Get well soon at this point. But lucky because he wins the European Open 2022 with Zeven. 0.39 seconds ahead of Linda Koehler with Sykes from Germany. She was already on the podium at the Zürisee Cup last weekend. A little more than half a second behind was Belgian Olivier Maunaert and Rafa on the podium. Contributing to a successful EO for Belgium. However, his third place was close. Only 0.06 seconds was the gap to Tobias Wüst with Ceed.

The Medium pedestal was completely in German hands. Unbelievable but true. Daniel Schröder with Cashew in first place, more than a second ahead of Silas Boogk and Beam. Again, an incredible achievement. The purely German podium is completed by Johann Weberling and Momo. With fifth place from Diego Hernan Hernandez Garcia, it was almost enough for Colombia to win a medal at the European Open. Medal or not – its still a super result for him.

While “only” 3 Germans were among the top five in the Medium final, in the Small tournament there were even four. But not in first place. Angie Benacquisto from the United States of America grabbed it with Sundae and a time of 41.29 seconds. She undercut Stefanie Simson and Bibi by more than a second. Third place goes to serial winner Tobias Wüst with Dörte. He finishes in a time of 42.54. Silas Boogk and Max Sprinz follow in fourth and fifth place.

The team competition also went in a similar direction. At least for the Large dogs. The whole podium was immediately covered in the colors yellow, red and black. Germany shared the first two places among themselves. The winning team includes Max Sprinz (Style), Tobias Wüst (Ceed), Jürgen Ketschker (Aislinn) and Christian Prinz (Wake). In the team of silver medalists were Linda Köhler (Sykes), Teresa Berndt (Keep), Silas Boogk (Spider) and Daniela Lehrer (Tippi). The team just barely reached the final as the last team.

They too reached the final on Friday as the last team. But the run of Olga Kwiecien (Mojo), Magdalena Ziolkowska (Mazzi), Zuzanna Grzegorczyk (Pixie) and Magdalena Labieniec (Elfie) in the final should not gget beaten by any other team.
