For the fans of the Danish Cups Dania, Fionia and Jutlandia, who are held alternately every three years, there is now another disappointment after last year’s cancellation of the Dania Cup. No tournament will take place either in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The organizers published this on the official homepage yesterday. The current situation, as well as the close prospects, makes it simply too risky to hold the tournament. Especially in view of the almost 1,000 participants from different nations who are more or less in a confined space for six days.
The organisers are now aiming for the next scheduled event in 2024. Next year, the biggest tournament in Denmark will take place under the flag of the Fionia Cup again. The moment of the early announcement is surprising in that way, as the Denmark Open 2021 was announced only a few days ago. Nevertheless, the cancellation is more than justifiable because of the current situation. In addition, it was already considered in November that the tournament could be held as planned this year.
