Nordic Championships 2018: Colorful mess after day one

The first day of the Nordic Championship is over and it was – as expected – high level agility. After day one it is as expected a fight between Sweden, Finland and Norway while Denmark need to hope for some team medals. Too big is the difference compared to the other three countries in the individual competition at the moment. In the large tournament was it today in the two runs a head-to-head race between Janita Leinonen with Fu and Jenny Damm with Lilli. But also the two top athletes in the front have to attack again tomorrow in the last run. It will be again a Agility run for all individual teams. Currently in the third place is Tuulia Liuhto with Pirtu. Also in the medium tournament is with Jonna Kannisto a woman from Finland on the first intermediate rank. Behind her is Irene Yrstad with Lukas from Norway and even the third place goes with Eivind Berdo Fossum and Ficus to Norway. The small classification has in the recent years almost traditionally been dominated by the Swedes. At the moment they are ranked with Patrik Rosendal and Richard Scholvin on place one and three. Only Sonja Delatte with Stella disturbs the Swedish cosy togetherness.

Nordic Championship 2018

While in the individual tournament there are three runs, the winner in the team competition will be decided only by a jumping and an agility run Although the chances for a medal for each nation is 25%, the clean runs must be coming at the right moment. For once, the time doesn’t count that much. The Finnish home team wins the large jumping in front of Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Especially Sweden has certainly hoped for a better result. Maybe we’ll see tomorrow the expected duel against Finland. A better position could also been hoped for them in the medium tournament where they stay in the last place overnight. The Norwegians probably will have a better night. They are currently on the first place before Finland and Denmark. Unimpressed by the difficulties from the other teams in the other two categories, the Swedes are winning the team jumping sovereign or like a rock in the surf. Behind Enya Habel and co. are the Norwegians and the Finns. The Red Lantern is currently carrying Denmark.
