Austrian National Championship 2021: Lena Nikou, Tamara Sedlmaier and Claudia Ringer are the best teams in Austria 2021

Lena Nikou with Alice, Tamara Sedlmaier with You and Claudia Ringer with Sky are the winner of the Austrian National Championship this weekend. The tournament was held in the Hundesportarena OG in Neufeld an der Krems. Around 170 teams in the three different size categories tried to win the most important national competition in Austria.

In the Large category it looked after the first jumping run it looked like a possible win for Lisa Frick and Jack. They won the run by a few tenths. But already there it was everything else than clear. The gaps between the first four teams were only 0.28 seconds. Basically nothing. But the whole ranking was mixed up after the final run. Lisa Frick and Jack had one rare misunderstanding at the start which lead to a disqualification a few obstacles later. Also the other participants from the top after the first run weren’t able to profit from the mistake. Instead of them, Lena Nikou with Border Collie Alice started to catch up with another clean run. All a bit outside of the radar. In the final ranking place 8 and 5 were enough to gain the title.

In the Medium tournament, the favorite Tamara Sedlmaier and Sheltie You, who were already traded before the tournament, prevailed. The two won the silver medal at the last World Championship in Finland. With a little more than 2 seconds of cushion on Helmut Paulik from the first run, the pressure for the decision in the Agility run fell away. But even there one remained sovereign. Although it was not quite enough for the victory in this run due to 0.01 seconds. But enough for the overall win.
