Junior European Open 2019: Individual medals for the first time with new categories

The Junior European Open 2019 are officially ended with the individual decisions. For the first time, the medals were awarded to the three new categories for under 19, 15 and 12 years. Croatia’s Anja Blažević wins with a relatively big gap among the 19-year-old in the Large tournament, ahead of Giulia Bodenmann with Arthur from the host country Switzerland. Third is Cindy Duval from France. Also, a bronze medal goes to France in the medium competition of under 19-year-olds by Lison Medina and Milo. First and second places are occupied exactly as in the previous year by Maksim Gushin on the first and Klara Kokesova on the second one. Not quite the same person, but also from Austria as it was in the previous year is the winner of the Small Individual U19 Conni Raschbauer with LeGo. The two will also participate in the European Open in the Netherlands in two weeks. Behind her is Marina Zavoloka from Russia and Petra Vydrova from the Czech Republic.

Germany benefits a lot, with two silver, one bronze and a gold medal of the new category, especially among under 15 years. One of the mentioned medals was the silver in Large under 15 years behind neighboring country Netherlands. Caitlin van Zon wins with Boyke in front of the German Leonie Fiedler. Third place goes to the crowd favorites from Japan. Notably Yoshimoto Shun. The second gold medal of the whole tournament for France secures Sophie Henin with Ilumia. Second is Iva Kos with Jacky from Slovenia. For them is the silver medal, as a smaller team, a great success. Behind Iva Kos is Nadine Geiger on the third place with Sheltie Neon for another medal of the host country. Jessica Geier secures gold in Small for Germany ahead of the Czech duo Eliska Sovadinova and Martin Saling.

Of particular interest this weekend, was the category of under 12 year olds. There, especially the Central European nations dominated. Germany brings with Lea Kasper and Lykka Kolligs two more medals in their backpack. The golden one goes to Leonardo Casoni with Dex from Italy in the large competition. Also gold to the Italians goes in the medium tournament. Greta Frolli wins this with Ulysse. Behind them are the two neighboring countries France with William Barreau and Switzerland with Larissa Schudel. Even in the smallest category, the second and third places are awarded to France and Switzerland. Tiphanie Mauroux wins bronze while Ludivine Goby earns the silver medal. The winner will be Anna Dusankova with Jamie from the Czech Republic.
